Advantages and Drawbacks of Carbon Film Resistor :


1. It is easy on pockets, as it is cheap in cost.
2. It has a wide operating range and hence widely used
3. Generates less noise than carbon composition resistor
4. However, its high negative coefficient of resistance makes the resistance change easily with a change in temperature. An increase in temperature would decrease the resistance of this resistor, this is definitely a huge drawback.
